Orange Tutu

30.4 cm x 40.3 cm

Again, my inspiration is the color tangerine. Yesterday on my way home from MAM, I saw this color on one pedestrian. It was just a glimpse when I looked through the bus window, but I knew that was exactly beautiful and I loved that!
Inspiration couldn't be realized if you don't have other ideas for the construction and expression. So I still found it really hard to start a new piece of artwork. And when I searched the keyword "tangerine" on Google, I happened to find a girl in orange tutu. That is absolutely cute and beautiful. Then I started my work. I chose the paper with the darkest tone in my assorted collection.
At the very beginning, I failed to draft the girl from head to the skirt because I found I had to work in the frame, which was very limited. It didn't take me very long to start directly from the beautiful orange tutu. The truth is that, I didn't have a very clear picture in my mind what it was going to be like and all I knew was I want to be with this wonderful object full heartedly.  I did feel very satisfied with the result and then I pondered what's next. And I decided to have one girl wear this skirt, but she isn't the girl I found on Google anymore. I wanted to cut down the details on her silhouette and let my imagination run wild. This was how she was born as she's like in the final painting. Finally, I relate the last step to the color that inspired me from scratch, so I drew a real tangerine, which could be put in the context of this painting since it could mean something to the girl and to the color.
So many ideas amassed to produce this piece of work, and they could be something that flash over your mind in daily life or something you might pay extra effort to incubate.
It's never never easy to be always creative!!
